Carman Olley (Miss Carman) – Principal

CarmanCarman trained at Conroy Dance Centre for 16 years. Carman began her teaching career at Conroy’s , where she obtained her Teachers Certificate in C.S.T.D theatrical, classical and tapping as well as adding C.S.T.D modern jazz award (with Honours) to her achievements. She continued in her teaching studies adding the R.A.D teaching certificate after moving to the Sunshine Coast and teaching at the Maria Shanks Dance Centre. In 1995 Carman opened Sunshine Dance Centre in Nambour to provide quality tuition to the area. What began as a few evening classes eventually grew to the wonderful studio it is now.  Carman expanded Sunshine Dance Centre opening a studio in Caloundra in 2007. Carman is extremely dedicated in her teaching and delights in giving the joy of dance to her students. Carman’s teaching skills remain current and she continually attends dance related teaching courses.

 

 

Megan Dowdle (Miss Meg)

MegMegan (Meg) trained at The Roslyn Lavender Dance Centre at Caloundra. In 2009, Meg obtained her C.B.T.S (Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies) with the Royal Academy of Dance. Meg has an extensive classical teaching background in R.A.D to majors and Grade 8. Meg has taught classical grade and major classes at Sunshine Dance Centre for 12 years. Meg has such a lovely way with our littlies.

 

 

 

 

Melissa Lanham

MelissaMelissa has had a long and diverse career in dance spanning over 20 years. She started her career as a professional dancer working with some of Australia’s foremost contemporary choreographers and commercial artists. After receiving the Maroochy Shire Cultural Foundation Award in 2003, Melissa moved to England with her family and worked for the British Arts Council  as a Dance Development Artist. Melissa had the opportunity to work with many of England’s innovative contemporary dance Companies including Henri Oguike Dance and Bare Bones on their regional tours. Melissa has since taught and choreographed all over the world specialising in contemporary dance.

 

 

 

Lisa Ferrier (Miss Lisa)

LisaLisa began her training at the age of 3 on the NSW central coast at the Lovett’s Dance and Talent Academy where she studied from 1998-2001. After moving to Sunshine Coast at the end of 2001, Lisa continued her dance study at Centre of Dance in Caloundra where she was also teaching. Lisa started working with Sunshine Dance Centre when Carman purchased Centre of Dance in 2008. In the same year Lisa obtained her CSTD Tapping Teaching Certificate whilst with Sunshine Dance Centre. She has extensive training in performance across classical, jazz and tap styles Lisa went to National titles through Dance and Sports Aerobics with Sunshine Coast Grammar School as well as participating in Cheerleading. Lisa has a great rapport with students and is a well respected Tap Teacher.

 

 

Mark Brinkley O.A.M

Mark runs specialist classical classes in Nambour. He performed for many years with the Australian Ballet Company, working with such distinguished international artists as Dame Margot Fonteyn, Rudolph Nureyev, Sir Frederick Ashton and Sir Robert Helpmann. Since leaving the Company, Mark has freelanced as a teacher and adjudicator and is sought after as a classical technique teacher both on the Sunshine Coast and around Australia.

Karyn Clark

Karyn is a qualified singing teacher teaching our Senior Vocal class in Nambour. Karyn runs her own singing and music school, QAVA, here on the Sunshine Coast and we are very lucky to have her as part of our extended teaching staff. At Sunshine Dance Centre we also offer senior students the opportunity to assist our teachers with the younger classes. This experience is invaluable to the developing student. A greater understanding of teaching and technique can be obtained.
